The decision on the metering type for your property was made when an electricity connection was ordered for it. This is a matter concerning electricity transmission, which also affects the pricing of your electricity contract. You can find out the metering type for your address in the electricity transmission of your local power grid company, or you can ask your power grid company directly, or try to figure it out using these general instructions.
Our price list is based on three methods of metering: general electricity, night-time electricity and season-rate electricity. Electricity suppliers and power grid companies may also use other terms, but they mean the same things. For example, night-time electricity may be called time-of-day electricity. General electricity is typical for blocks of flats and terraced houses; for detached houses heated with oil, wood, geothermal heat or district heating; and for holiday homes.
It is suitable for homes that have no electric heating or electricity consumption is low or occurs mostly during the day. The price of electricity using general electricity is the same regardless of the time of day or season.
If you are not sure about the metering type for your address, we recommend choosing general electricity, as this is the most typical metering type.

Night-time electricity is generally used by those who have electric heating and in properties where a lot of energy is consumed during the night. Night-time electricity has two energy prices: daytime and night-time electricity price, of which night-time electricity is cheaper. Night-time electricity is for customers that have metering type based on a difference between the day and night prices. With us, night-time electricity is valid from 10 pm to 7 am.
Season-rate electricity is used in places where electricity use is high and mostly occurs in the summer. Season-rate electricity has two prices: higher price during the weekdays in winter and cheaper price any other time. Season-rate electricity is for customers that have metering type based on a difference between weekday in winter or other times. For Vaasan Sähkö, the weekday in winter pricing is valid from 7 am to 10 pm from Monday to Saturday during the period from 1 November to 31 March.
