The sun doesn’t shine on my roof all the time, does it matter?

The sun doesn’t need to shine directly on the panels all the time. As long as the roof is not facing north, the exact direction is not necessarily a decisive factor. It’s primarily about your electricity consumption profile and the number of panels, which should be appropriately sized.

The highest total output is typically achieved when the roof faces south. However, it also depends on your consumption profile—specifically, when energy is used—since certain installation orientations will provide the best benefits.

What do I have to do to sell surplus electricity?
  1. Get permission to connect to the local distribution network and make a network service and connection agreement with the local distribution company.
    • You will receive a number of your micro-generation site that you will need to sell electricity. It’s easier if you have this number, but if not, we can find it out for you.
  2. To conclude an agreement, please contact our customer service by email or phone.
  3. Once the contract has been concluded, we will take care of everything else for you, and you will be automatically compensated on your bill for the electricity you have sold.
How much is paid for surplus electricity?

The payment for solar electricity is based on the spot price of the electricity market. The electricity company you have an agreement with for purchasing surplus electricity will deduct a commission. This is specific to the electricity company. At Vaasan Sähkö, the commission is 0.20 cents/kWh.

When can’t solar panels be installed?

Solar panels cannot be installed in the following situations:

  • The roof’s condition or durability is poor.
  • The roof material and structure may prevent installation. For example, there are no suitable fasteners for asbestos roofs, slate roofs, or other special roof types.
  • A building permit cannot be obtained. Sometimes a building permit may not be granted, for instance, if the building is protected.
  • The roof is facing north.

Installation possibilities are always evaluated on a case-by-case basis, so it’s a good idea to request an offer. Instead of roof installation, ground mounting might be a good alternative.

Is solar power worth it?

Several factors influence the answer to this question. The most important ones are the system’s sizing and cost, the electricity price at the consumption location, solar radiation levels, and the installation of the panels.

The more electricity you can use from your solar production, the quicker the panels will pay for themselves.

The profitability increases if you can time your electricity consumption to when the production is high.

Can I add panels to the system later?

Absolutely! In addition to the panels, you may need a new inverter to handle the increased power output.

Our property is located in Turku. Can I order solar panels from you?

Of course! As a business or housing company customer, you can order solar panels from us anywhere in mainland Finland, regardless of the property’s location.

What maintenance do the panels require?

The panels require very little maintenance. For example, they do not need to be cleaned of pollen.

If any maintenance is needed, the inverter will send an alert.
