Metering point ID (GSRN)
The metering point ID, also called Global Service Relation Number (GSRN), can be thought of as the home address of electricity. It indicates where the electricity is being delivered to. A GSRN is an 18-character series of numbers that is used to identify the electricity meter in the user’s home, summer cottage, office or small-scale production system. Usually, there is only one GSRN per address. However, there are some exceptions to this rule.
What is a GSRN?
A GSRN, or metering point ID, is an code that identifies the place where the electricity is used. It has 18 characters.
When you are signing a new electricity contract, we always need to know your GSRN. Usually, we are able to find it automatically, but in some situations, we may need your help.
If the GSRN is not known to us, when the contract is being concluded, this may delay the processing of the electricity contract and its entry into force.
Where can I find the GSRN?
You can find the GSRN on your electricity bill or your electricity distribution bill, or in the contract confirmation you have received from your electricity distribution company. The code always starts with the digits 6430.
You can also request the GSRN from your distribution company, or if you have bought a home, you can ask the previous owner for it.
Exceptions to the metering point ID
There is usually only one site identifier per place of electricity use, but there are exceptions, such as the following:
- Sometimes there are several electricity meters at one place of use, each with its own identifier. In this case, we will help the customer to find out which identifier is the correct one.
- Some properties, such as those on an island, may all have the same address. The correct identifier for the place of use can usually be found using the property identifier.
