The spot price (cents/kWh) refers to the hourly regional price for Finland announced by the Nordic electricity exchange Nord Pool. Varpu has an electrically heated home. She has installed automation in her water heater, so the water heats up during the cheapest hours of the day automatically. Varpu’s smart electric car charger charges the plug-in hybrid car on the same principle.
Varpu actively monitors the spot price of electricity. Windy days, when electricity is cheap, are laundry days. Paju uses the oven on weekends.
You can affect your electricity bill with personal impact adjustment. If you use electricity when the market price is low – usually at night, on weekends, and when there is plenty of wind power available – your personal impact is negative, and your energy fee decreases. If your consumption is higher during weekday afternoons and mornings, when the market price is traditionally high, the personal impact increases the final energy price.
The energy fee protects the customer from high average market prices. Market prices are not directly reflected in the customer’s bill. Only whether consumption is weighted towards cheaper or more expensive hours than the monthly average affects the final price.

General electricity is suitable for homes with no electric heating or with low electricity consumption, which mainly takes place in the daytime. The price of general electricity is the same regardless of the time of day or season. General electricity is a product that usually fits homes in blocks of flats and terrace houses, detached and semi-detached houses heated with oil, wood or ground heat as well as holiday homes.
Night-time electricity is suitable for homes and premises that use electric heaters and that consume a lot of electricity at night. Night-time electricity comes in two price ranges, daytime and night-time prices, with night-time electricity being more affordable. This product is intended for customers whose current metering is based on the time division of day/night.
Season-rate electricity is suitable for properties that consume a lot of electricity, mainly in the summer. The average price depends on the cost of the hours during which you use electricity at a given location and how much has been consumed during each hour. Follow the average price in the app
The price of exchange electricity appears on the invoice as the actual average price for the entire month. In the Vaasan Sähkö app, you can easily see the actual average price for the past month. If you are interested in the average price for the current month, you can also track it in the app. If doing so, please note that the final average price is determined only after the end of the respective calendar month.
In Basic Electricity, the only way you can influence the size of your electricity bill by consuming less energy. However, with Basic Electricity you know the exact energy price in advance.
Influencer allows you to consume the same amount of energy and still get a discount thanks to being able to control your own influence on the price through smarter timing of your electricity consumption.
In Influencer, the base level of energy charge is lower than Basic Electricity. On the other hand, the energy charge in Influencer may rise higher than with Basic Electricity if you use a larger portion of electricity when it is most expensive.
Vaasan Sähkö’s Influencer pricing is primarily based on a fixed energy price, to which the customer’s own influence on the price is added. When you use electricity during the times when it is cheapest on the energy exchange, your own influence on the price decreases, resulting in savings for you.
Because of this, the price fluctuations for Vaasan Sähkö’s Influencer contract are smaller than with an exchange electricity contract.
With an exchange electricity contract, the energy price you pay is based on the hourly pricing of the energy exchange, which can vary quite a lot from hour to hour or day to day.
The energy price (cents per kWh) of Vaasan Sähkö’s Exchange electricity changes hourly.
On your electricity bill, you will only see the actual monthly spot average price, which is weighted according to your electricity consumption. Because of this, the average price varies with each invoice.
The basic fee for Exchange electricity (the monthly price) and our billed margin (the commission) are more stable. If you intend to change them, we will inform you well in advance so that you can terminate your contract if you wish before the new price takes effect.
